MES Launches MES Ltd. in Shanghai

MES' on-site subsidiary firma supports the innovation boom of the Chinese automotive industry in the development of embedded software

On July 1, 2019 Berlin-based software company, Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES)'s subsidiary firma, Model Engineering Solutions Ltd. in Shanghai officially launches into the Chinese market. This is in response to the strong demand and current innovation boom in the Chinese automotive industry. The company is an important supplier of embedded software development tools to the world's leading automobile manufacturers and continues to expand its reach in the field. Through direct sales, MES also assumes the responsibilities of its previous sales partner in Shanghai, YISU Information Technologies Co., Ltd. (Yisu).

Innovation Driving the Chinese Automotive Sector Forward

The automotive industry in China is booming. Manufacturers such as SAIC Motor, Dongfeng Motor, FAW, Geely, BYD, and the Beijing Automotive Group are among the world's largest automobile manufacturers and are experiencing rapid growth in the international marketplace. Innovative technologies, such as autonomous driving and electrically powered vehicles in particular, are making significant advancements in China. For this reason, securing safety-relevant systems is a vital focus area of software development in China. Well-known car manufacturers are being heavily relied on to provide proven solutions for securing embedded software. Heiko Dörr, CEO of MES, explains the vision of his company in China as follows: "The pace of development and innovation in China is rapid, and automotive OEM development teams are working hard to achieve the highest standards and efficiency in quality assurance. Having an on-site presence enables us to better understand the needs of our Chinese customers and to support them directly. Strengthening the region is an integral part of MES' corporate strategy, as it is the only way we can anchor our toolchain in the processes of Chinese car manufacturers and suppliers."

Extended Support for Chinese Customers

With the founding of MES Ltd., MES provides extensive support to its clientele in China. Sales and support are being undertaken directly. As a result, Chinese customers also have a direct channel to the MES development teams in Germany and to support from these teams. MES also offers first-hand consulting, training classes, and tool training to their Chinese clientele. Consequently, MES Ltd. is the only authorized distribution channel for MES’ products and services in China. Licenses and maintenance contracts previously acquired through distributors remain valid and are supported directly by the relevant contact persons at MES. To further expand support, the support section of MES’ website is available in Chinese, and from now on webinars in the Chinese language are also accessible on-demand via their website. In addition, customers will be kept informed and up-to-date about current content, events, and releases via regular newsletters. Furthermore, a social media channel (WeChat) has been set up for direct support inquiries to the development team in Berlin. In the future, these social media channels will be further expanded to provide MES’ Chinese customers with a forum for knowledge sharing with regards to industry-relevant topics such as ISO 26262 and other relevant international ISO safety standards.
