MES will mark its 10th anniversary with second MES User Conference in Berlin.
The Berlin-based software company Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this fall, an occasion to not only review past years, but also to develop new visions for the future at this year’s MES User Conference. In keeping with the motto “10 YEARS OF QUALITY - IDEAS FOR TOMORROW” current applications and new ideas for model-based development and quality assurance will be presented and discussed by AVL, JTEKT, Mercedes-Benz, Vaillant, dSPACE, and many more. The MES User Conference takes place on October 6-7, 2016 at SOHO HOUSE Berlin.

Back to the future: 10 years of quality assurance by MES
Following its initial pioneering position, model-based development has become the set procedure for serial production in the automotive industry during the past decade, with quality assurance being the top priority. Dr. Ingo Stürmer, founder and shareholder of MES, had a knack for anticipating this trend. After all, MES was founded in 2006 with the recognition that quality assurance of embedded automotive software will become increasingly important for automobile manufacturers. The two managing directors, Dr. Heiko Dörr (CEO) and Dr. Hartmut Pohlheim (CTO) have expanded the small business into an established enterprise with 50 employees. “We draw on the simple principle: Software runs the car. Although this sounds like a simple formula, it poses a great challenge to automotive manufacturers. Those which recognize software quality as a key factor of success and safeguard it from the start are the most effective. We support them with an optimal combination of consultancy, software tool solutions, and operational quality assurance. Our customers can be sure that their software will stand the test of the road and the highest safety requirements,” explained Dr. Heiko Dörr.
Quality assurance of the future meets new challenges
Considering the future of autonomous driving and networking of vehicles, it quickly becomes clear that quality assurance in the automotive domain is in need of a quantum leap. It is necessary to find new approaches to keep pace with new development methods and functional complexity. At the same time, other industries gear towards the automotive industry. “The automotive industry has pioneered the development of embedded systems and many industries can learn from it. Therefore, we are increasingly interested in industries where model-based development will be introduced. We see ourselves as a transmission belt for the development of know-how in model-based software development. We can provide our experience in other industries to drive quality assurance in model-based software development forward,” stated Dr. Heiko Dörr with regard to the future vision of MES.
