Model Engineering Solutions (MES)
About Us
Our Vision: We at Model Engineering Solutions (MES) strive for a world of safe technology in mobility.
Our Mission: The MES tools and our expertise ensure the quality and safety of embedded software in a software-driven world to make tomorrow’s mobility safer. Our core values of excellence, knowledge, and trust inspire and drive us forward every day.
We advocate quality assurance in the model-based development of embedded software. Our main focus is static model analysis and model improvement, primarily in MATLAB Simulink, the automotive industry's leading development platform.
MES provides solutions in various development chains and highly-automated cloud environments for safe controller software.
Implementing our solutions right from the start ensures that errors are detected and corrected at an early development stage. The MES tools for comprehensive software quality ensure that your software complies with international industry standards like ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and ASPICE. TÜV approved.
Embedded systems are your expertise, safety is ours.
Sophia Kohle has been a part of Model Engineering Solutions (MES) since 2014 and a Managing Director since 2022. In her work, the qualified mathematician is guided by her passion for quality. Over the last few years, Sophia has been closely involved in the continued development of strategy and the organization of MES. She has led numerous customer projects and has designed and held training classes on the topic of model-based development. She is also Product Manager of MES' key tool Model Examiner® (MXAM), the tool for static model analysis of Simulink® and TargetLink® models, which has been successfully classified and qualified by TÜV SÜD for use in safety-related software development in compliance with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and ISO 25119.
Hartmut Pohlheim has been driving forward the quality assurance of software models for the automotive industry for more than 20 years. He holds a doctorate in technical cybernetics and automation engineering from the Technical University of Ilmenau and is considered one of the most distinguished experts in model-based software development. After graduating, he worked in the research department of Daimler AG where he focused on the optimization of technical applications and the visualization of complex systems. Since 2008, Hartmut Pohlheim has been Managing Director of Model Engineering Solutions (MES) and is responsible for technology development as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He inspires customers with his effective solutions and expertise in quality assurance. Agile management is important to him and he cares a lot about his employees feeling valued and appreciated.
All but a few of the world's top-selling manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry rely on MES’ solutions in their development environments. Among them are Bosch, Continental, Hyundai, Magna, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Toyota, Volkswagen, and ZF.
This is what some of our costumers say about us:
dSPACE is an internationally leading provider of simulation and test solutions for developing networked, autonomous, and electrically powered vehicles. MES develops model checks for MISRA, TargetLink, and AUTOSAR in cooperation with dSPACE. We have been a dSPACE Strategic Partner since June 2010 and, via the tools MES Model Examiner® (MXAM), MES Model & Refactor® (MoRe) and, MES Test Manager® (MTest), we provide core components for implementing the TargetLink Reference Workflow.
ETAS offers tools and solutions used in developing and maintaining embedded systems in automotive and adjacent fields of the embedded industry. We have cooperated with ETAS since 2012, developing model checks for the ASCET-MD development environment with our MES Model Examiner® (MXAM).
MathWorks, Inc. is the leading developer and provider of software for technical and scientific calculations. The products MATLAB®, Simulink®, and Stateflow® offer engineers a comprehensive environment for developing and simulating embedded software. We have been a MathWorks Product Partner since 2013 with the MES Test Manager® (MTest), our ISO 26262 test framework for Simulink® and Embedded Coder®.
PikeTec is a leading provider of test automation in the automotive sector. The product TPT automates all test activities from model, C/C++ code, ECUs to the integrated complete vehicle. Simple operating concepts, innovative reuse and methodology approaches enable fast test results. Together with the MES products, a holistic Q&A solution for model-based development in automotive engineering can be realized.
MES and SAE International are collaborating on the training workshops offered as part of the tudoor Academy. In 2017, SAE International included the training workshop "Model-based Development of Embedded Software in Compliance with ISO 26262 – Challenges and Effective Solutions" in its Functional Safety Training catalog. MES can now award an "SAE Certificate of Competency" to participants who successfully pass an evaluation exercise at the end of the training workshop.
MES has been a member of the international competence network for safety in embedded systems in transportation systems since 2015. SafeTRANS connects a group of renowned companies and scientific institutions, and aims to facilitate knowledge transfer between science and industry in the field of embedded systems for transportation systems as well as increase safety in this field via the most modern technology and optimized processes.
Since 2021, samoconsult GmbH and Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES) have been cooperating to provide high-quality training and coaching services. Our training classes focus on functional safety, SOTIF, software engineering, and supporting quality tools. If desired, topics can be customized to meet your needs. We offer our range of training classes as open-enrollment trainings in our training locations in Europe, North America, and Asia, as in-house trainings on your premises, or as virtual classroom trainings.
In line with their motto "We’ve got the brains for the future," the Technische Universität (TU) Berlin stands for future-oriented research and teaching. MES cooperates with multiple disciplines at the TU Berlin, including flight mechanics, flight control and aeroelasticity; quality science; and software and embedded systems engineering, in developing meta-models and creating tool adapters. MES has been carrying out projects with various TU Berlin research areas since 2009.
Headquartered in Berlin (Germany), MES was founded in 2006 and has about 60 employees. With subsidiaries in the U.S. and China and international sales partners, MES maintains a strong worldwide presence.
